A bit like Tai Chi
The sea moves rhythmically
Ebbing and flowing

Charlie
My best friend Charlie was round the bend.
He’d creep up on couples under the pier,
Shout ‘ello, ‘ello, what’s going on ‘ere,
And throw a bucket of water over them.
Charlie was mad about football and war,
A charmer who could chat up the birds,
With his easy manner and bulging cords;
I was more nervous and never could score.
When I went to College, Charlie signed up
For the army and was killed in Korea.
He never knew Blackpool won the FA Cup,
And we never returned to our seaside ways,
When he was Stanley Matthews dribbling pebbles,
Kicking cans and castles and getting laid.

If any poem strikes a chord with you, tell me. Only I will see it.
